So here’s how this past week went…
I did MUCH better this past week thanks to Home Chef and the fact that I didn’t go to the grocery store at all. No trip to the grocery store meant no new snacks in the house. I have to pat myself on the back for that one.
So let’s take a look at my steps that I track daily using my trusty Garmin Vivofit that I've owned and worn for about 3 years now…
Monday - 5,587
Tuesday - 5,786
Wednesday - 6,384
Thursday - 7,053
Friday - 6,599
I clearly started off slow and I’ll blame that on a few training sessions for work earlier in the week, but I stepped it up closer to the end of the week. I still haven’t decided on investing in a piece of exercise equipment, but the more I look around at my home office, the more I realize it’s time to move some things around in here.
It’s time for a refresh! Stay tuned for updates.
Hair wasn’t done.
No lip gloss or earrings.
Rocking old house clothes at my desk.
You get the picture. It wasn’t a pleasant sight. Sometimes you just feel blah and I think that’s okay as long as you don’t stay in that blah space for too long.
So what’s at the root of this issue?
Simply not knowing what to do with my hair. I don’t care what I have on, it’s blah if my hair isn’t done. With that said, I simply need to figure out what I want to do with it and get it done.
Sounds simple, right?
Moving right along…
First and foremost, I hired a sitter this week thanks to Care.com AND I have a plan B in place just in case my main sitter is unavailable. YAY! Do you all know what this means? Of course, you do!
Let’s pause here for a second so I can provide you with a little background…
I am not just a single mother. I am a single mother with no family in the area. I am a single mother who just moved to a new county and works from home, which means I don’t know my neighbors and I don’t have local coworkers.
So back to the importance of hiring a sitter…
This is a much-needed addition to our lives as I work on getting out of the house for more adult interaction. Her first day was yesterday when I went to my book club meeting. My little one had a ball AND so did I!
Did I mention the sitter is a 4th grade teacher?!
It couldn’t get any better for me since my little one is in 4th grade!
So now what?
While there won’t be a Week 5 blog post about this journey to living a little healthier while working from home, I am now more mindful of my eating habits and activity level. I am also convinced that taking care of my home can only happen if I am taking care of myself (mentally and physically).
Without a whole and healthy me, there is no whole and healthy home.
So what have you learned from all of this? Were you able to connect with some of my ongoing struggles as a work-from-home mom?
Are you now starting to think about how this might be an issue for you when you start working from home? If I haven’t completely scared you off, take a moment to make sure you’ve signed up for the weekly newsletter that includes work-from-home job opportunities you likely won’t find elsewhere.
As always, wishing you nothing but the absolute best…
