I spent quite a bit of time positioning myself (through networking and education) to increase my earning potential because I firmly believe in the importance of earning more when you reach the point of not being able to reasonably cut additional expenses. Sometimes there simply isn't anything left to cut from the budget, especially when you're paying for services like childcare.
What you probably don’t know, however, is that I consistently continue to hunt for deals to save on everything from groceries to furniture and have been cutting coupons since my mom allowed me to hold a pair of scissors. No joke!
I have very vivid memories of sitting at the table cutting coupons from the Sunday paper and filing them away in my mom’s red vinyl coupon holder, which she NEVER touched. I remember wanting a Hannah Hansen coupon organizer since it seemed so much more modern and our vinyl organizer was starting to rip on the side, but I made do with what we had.
My mom would give me her grocery list for the week and I would grab my coupon holder to see if I could find a match! Fun times for sure!! She probably had no idea that she was making such an impact on my life that I would later pass along to my little one.
In the interest of complete transparency, I started slacking off on coupon-clipping when I purchased my most recent home in 2016. My plate was ridiculously full and the last thing on my mind was clipping coupons. I used my favorite coupon apps (listed here, of course, for your convenience) and left my trusty paper coupons behind.
Until one day...
Then I thought…I miss those days. I used to get up early and head to the grocery store with my list and coupon binder and really kill it with the savings. It was nothing for me to save $40+ in coupons!
That’s almost a full tank of gas, y’all!
It’s a new day and a few of you have made it clear that you not only want to know how I earn money, but also how I manage to save money as a single mom.
I am committed to hunting for deals and will work my way back into coupon-clipping soon. Follow along here to stay in the loop on savings opportunities for everything from groceries to home office furniture!
I’m sooooo excited about not only continuing to share opportunities to earn money via the Working from Home blog, but also now about sharing opportunities to save money via the Saving from Home blog!! :)
